It ain’t easy being green…
When this face oil launched I knew hands down that I wanted to try it. I love Sunday Riley products, and this facial oil is specifically formulated for oily, acne prone skin. I think its fair to say this oil had a lot to live up to, as I currently am 100% shipped with Tarte’s Maracuja Oil. But I really…really…thought this oil would be the best thing that has ever happened to my face.
Let’s just get into the product review:
Sephora– $80 (<- not a typo)U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil, exclusive to
A quick-absorbing, medicated dry oil to clear congested pores, treat and prevent acne, and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for clearer, smoother skin.
-Salicylic Acid 1.5%: Clears congested pores; treats and prevents acne and blackheads.
-Tea Tree Oil and Black Cumin Seed Oil: Help purify the skin and supports clarity.
-Licorice Root and Hexylresorcinol: Naturally brighten the appearance of dark spots.
When testing this, it was the only product I used after cleansing and toning. I didn’t want to alter or impact how this product worked. Initially? Its green! And I love green. But (un)fortunately the green color fades as it absorbs into your skin.
I’m not really sure why they call this a dry oil. Maybe I used too much? But I did not find that it absorbed so quickly that there was no residue left behind. It is very much an oily oil. Not thick or pore clogging. Just-….it’s not a dry oil.
It smells like paint.
But that fades too, after application!
I had a pretty massive hormonal event happening on my chin when this arrived. So I was excited to see how it handled deep, under the skin imperfections.
There was literally ZERO improvement on the huge breakout on my chin. And for some reason, even though the oil was oily- the actual blemishes had become dry and crusty? I was just baffled.
After using this for probably 5 days with NOTHING happening to improve the situation, I broke down and applied my super special treatment mixture (Tarte Maracuja Oil and 10% Benzoyl Peroxide). The breakout was almost completely gone after one application of that!
I LOVE Sunday Riley products- in fact I just reordered my third bottle of Good Genes! But this oil just was not what I was hoping it would be. I’d rather put the $80 towards another Good Genes. (And for a reference point- I tried the much loved Luna Oil, that gets RAVE reviews on Sephora.com- and I was underwhelmed by it as well).
Have any of you tried this oil? Who is loving this??
