The Ordinary. Skincare | REVIEW

If you are not balls deep into skincare like I am, you may not have heard of the umbrella of brands DECIEM. They own a variety of high quality, science driven brands with products for skin and hair. They recently added the brand The Ordinary and I couldn’t wait a single second to get my hands on some of the items! This brand was created to bring the highest quality ingredients, with clinical formulations, all while being incredibly affordable.

I have been using these products for about a month now, so I am finally able to share my feelings about them! Read on for my thoughts on the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2%, and Matrixyl 10% + HA.

I love the very simple and clinical packaging on all of these products- very no nonsense. All three formulas I purchased came in a glass bottle with a dropper.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

The one I was MOST excited to see and try was the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I have heard all kinds of great things about what Niacinamide can do for pores and breakouts- but I hadn’t taken the plunge yet to shell out $42 for the Paula’s Choice RESIST 10% Niacinamide Booster. This version from The Ordinary is $5.90. You read that correctly. Five dollars and ninety cents. For 30 ml of product (the PC is $42 for 20 ml as a cost comparison).

Niacinamide has been shown to reduce appearance of blemishes and congestion. It has also been said that it seems to be the only thing that can actually SHRINK the size of your pores. The niacinamide with the addition of zinc will also help with oil production.

So?? How is it?? IT IS AMAZING. I don’t know if this is the only reason why, but my skin has never looked better, so I’m never going to be without this six dollar bottle. I like to use it in the mornings, as it helps with tightening and mattifying. I mix a whole dropper full in with a pea size amount of my Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Moisturizer and it is perfection. I highly recommend this product if you have issues with pore size and skin texture. My skin is SO smooth, my pores practically invisible- you just need it K.

Matrixyl 10% + HA

Matrixyl is essentially a peptide that stimulates collagen synthesis and repair. It has been shown to reduce the look of static and dynamic wrinkles. I had never heard of Matrixyl prior to seeing this on the website, but I do have some areas of concern on my face for ‘static and dynamic wrinkles’, so I thought I’d try it out! This bottle is $11.50 for 30 ml of product.

I have been using this one at night, mixed in with my other serums. It doesn’t seem to be making the most drastic changes, but I do love the way my skin looks since started using these products. I think, though, once this bottle is empty I will hold off on repurchasing – just to see! It’s a great everyday anti-aging serum, and not all serums need to have a drastic noticeable result. Some products are more for over all and long term skin health. So I like this one for that!

Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2%

Lastly, I snagged the Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2%– because I love a good acid! This provides a mild peel to the top layer of the skin, providing excellent exfoliation and smoothing out the skin. A stronger, 10% version is available. But I kept it light to start. I got this 30 ml for $6.50.

We all know my love runs deep for my Sunday Riley Good Genes, which is a lactic acid treatment. So I was curious to see if this would be a dupe, or be able to replace it in anyway! Unfortunately, I will still be using the Good Genes for my Lactic Acid purposes. This one- while it does have the smoothing due to the lactic acid, it stops there. The Good Genes is more of an overall treatment that also brightens and minimizes fine lines. Oh – and it smells extremely bad. I don’t like to use it simply for that.

So far with this new line of cosmetics, I am very impressed! The quality is definitely there, with VISIBLE results. I’m excited to try more from them!
