So- I have some thoughts on color correcting. For the most part, I feel like it is a very trendy thing to do- to layer up all this product on your face that is completely unnecessary because most of the time the person doing it is starting with near perfect skin.
But, not all of us have perfect skin. And not all of us want 16 different things piled up, for full, cakey coverage! And I may have found a great option for those of you in the same boat as me. So keep reading to see my thoughts on the new Cushion Corrector + Primer Duo from Physicians Formula!
Physicians Formula Talc-Free Cushion Corrector + Primer Duo SPF 20, available in two shades: a ‘Brightener (lavender/peach) & Corrector (green/yellow). This product retails for around $16.99 for 0.24 oz (but there are so often BOGO sales on Physicians Formula).
This product, as the name suggests, comes in a cushion compact. I haven’t had much testing fun with cushions- I guess I’m nervous that it will all be too dewy? So don’t ask me why I wanted to try this…
Open up the standard cushion compact type protector to reveal a split pan with your two shades. I picked up the duo of green and yellow- because my biggest discoloration issue is redness.
Physician’s Formula Talc-Free Cushion Corrector + Primer Duo has a weightless mineral formula that delivers the skin-transforming benefits of color-correction and the skin-perfecting effect of priming in one revolutionary cushion.

The Application & Wear:
Before & After time! I wanted to show you how well this covers my redness. I have a lot of redness on and around my nose and chin. This can be difficult to mask, correct, or cover up because those are also the areas I get EXTREMELY oily in. So it always ends up that the product that covers well will also either get additionally oily or will break up and fade as the day goes- so – I’m red again.
This compact does come with an applicator, which I felt completely useless and not worth even a photograph. Seriously- you’re gonna just want to throw that thing in the garbage.
But what does work well to apply this is a damp beauty blender (have I even tried one not damp? maybe I should..) I use the fat bottom of my b.b., dab it in the cushion, then blend it out on my nose and chin. Yellow is actually better at masking large areas of red, so I don’t choose just the green, I go right into both.
I don’t know about you- but I feel like this really masks the redness, but doesn’t leave me looking…well…green! The only difference in the two photos below is the addition of the cushion corrector- swear!
Jameson wanted to try the other shade…
As far as priming- well I don’t really know what it means by that. I don’t feel like my pores were blurred at all – but it didn’t sink in or exaggerate them. This definitely dried down to a very lightweight matte finish. And for those easy days when I just want to slap on a little bit of concealer and powder foundation, this could %100 work as a ‘primer’ that also corrects!
I really like this, you guys!
It works really well for me on those days when I don’t want to deal with anything too fussy- I can just correct with this, throw on some brows and lashes, and feel a little bit better about myself on my daily trip to Target. It isn’t super long wearing, but it does what I need it to. And it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. The SPF is a nice addition, but considering I only use it where I need it, that doesn’t really do much for protection.
All around – two thumbs up!
