Hi everyone, Leslie Here!
Welcome to my first installment in the Gimme Five Friday series! On most Fridays (no promises here), you can visit the blog for a post featuring a list of five things that I feel like I need to share with you. You’ll just have to check back every week to see what’s in store for you!
This week? Highlighters!
Earlier in the week, YouTuber Jaclyn Hill debuted her newest collaboration with Becca Cosmetics, the Champagne Glow Collection Face Palette, and everyone LOST THEIR MIND (including myself).
I mean, can you even handle this thing? The millisecond I found out there was a secret pre-sale happening on the Sephora app I ordered one. Ok…two. I ordered two. So it should be here by the time this post is up and take the place of one of these things below! (The pre-sale sold out within a matter of hours and the real launch is scheduled for May 26th online so check back!)
Since this limited edition palette release, there have been a few different palettes & limited edition packagings. And now Champagne Pop is officially part of the Becca fam!
But in honor of this launch, and a glowy Spring season, here are my 5 favorite highlighters in my collection! I will only say this once, but excuse my pale blue transparent skin in these swatches. After all, I don’t have perfect, tan, 19-year-old hands 🙂

Although available separately this particular shade is actually exclusive to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, and I think it is just the most beautiful, subtle, everyday highlight. When you don’t want to blind fellow drivers or distract your coworkers, but still want to glow, this powder is GORGEOUS! In fact, the whole trio is fabulous, and I find myself dusting the entire thing all over my whole face pretty much every day.
It is the middle shade in the palette, and I think it is almost identical to the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact that everyone seems to be losing their goddamn mind over- I purchased the LM highlight aaaaaand….returned it. Because I have this and it is better!!
The other two shades in the Ambient Lighting Palette are Dim Light and Radiant Light. Those are available individually for $46, or $22 for a mini size. Palette is available here for $62.

Can you see that? That gold?! This was the first high-end highlighter I ever purchased, so maybe we have a history, a real bond. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just beautiful. But this white gold highlighter just does something for me. Cheekbones, inner corner of the eye, cupid’s bow, brow bone- it brings LIFE to my face! I feel like this is the kind of shade that could work for so many skin tones as well.
The Highlighting Blush comes in a 4.8g pan for $30. But it also now comes in a pan named the Light Sculpting Highlighting Powder for $38. I don’t know if the formula is the same, but the pan looks considerably larger – 13.9 g!! I mean, that thing would be the size of your head!
And of course, the highlighter that inspired the palette that inspired the blog post: Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector by Becca. I mean, there isn’t really much for me to say about this highlighter that hasn’t been said already. This product is a must-have highlighter in everyone’s collection FOR SURE. Champagne Pop is just a beautiful soft white gold highlight with pinky peach undertones. The texture of the powder is so velvety smooth, and it never emphasizes large pores or wrinkles on the skin. These pressed highlighters will set you back $38

Revlon PhotoReady SkinLights Face Illuminator in Pink Light
Long name. Lots of ‘two words into one word so we can make it our own and trademark it’ type of thing. BUT. This liquid highlighter product is so great! Let me tell you why.
First, it is affordable. I got mine on clearance at Walgreens – I can’t recall how much AND now that I am looking for a link I can’t find it!! But I swear I’ve seen some still in stores recently (Walgreen’s, CVS, Rite Aid) so don’t give up! But even if not on clearance, Revlon is an affordable brand and drugstores run sales on cosmetics very often!
Second- look at that glow! I would say it is a VERY close dupe to the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfectors. My favorite way to apply is to squeeze a little out on the back of my hand, and use my damp beauty blender to dab a bit of the product up and onto my cheekbones and diffuse it out. I also love to mix in liquid highlighter with either my primer or my foundation for an all-over glow. It also makes a great base or ‘first highlight’ for those days you really want to build it up- lay down a liquid highlight first, then top it off with a powder highlight.
I am SO impressed with this product, and am loving the use of a liquid highlighter! **Unfortunately, this product is now discontinued. But there are other great liquid highlighter options at the drugstore!
NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator – Target $5.19 (Gleam is the closest match to Champagne Pop, while Sunbeam is a close match to our friend Revlon here.)
Maybelline FaceStudio Master Strobing Liquid Illuminating Highlighter – Target $5.99 (Light is more pinky like the Revlon and Medium is more of a Champagne Pop dupe)
This Wet N Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder from their Spring collection is KILLIN it. The fact that this item costs $4.99 and is almost identical to the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop, which is $38, is absolutely insane to me. The formula is absolutely amazing. Wet N Wild continues to blow me away with the quality of their products. And now, this product has become a permanent item and is no longer hard to find! Yay!! Get it here.
The photo below is both Champagne Pop & Precious Petals – and they look identical!
Dupe alert, amirite?! Champagne Pop is on the left, and Precious Petals is on the right.
