Estee Lauder Double Wear is one of my favorite foundations. I know I can always rely on it to give me decent coverage, natural finish, and last ALL DAY. However, I do love a lighter coverage foundation, so I was super excited to try the new Double Wear Nude! I’ve got some thoughts and comparisons, so let’s check this puppy out.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup, 1 oz for $42. Available in 12 shades.
I picked mine up in 2C3 – Fresco, which also happens to be what I wear in the OG Double Wear.
Like the original, this come in a glass bottle with NO PUMP. -_-
Real-skin flawless. Real protection. 24-hour staying power.
Fluid, longwear makeup that feels like you have nothing on. Moves comfortably with your skin. Looks fresh, natural, healthy, even-toned. Instantly and continuously hydrates with a moisture complex of red fruit extracts, including watermelon, lychee seed and apple.

This foundation is suuuuper runny, which can be expected from a water foundation I’ve never actually tried any other water foundations, but I imagine this is a similar texture? It blends out best with a denser brush – for sure do not use a beauty sponge. It can get kind of streaky upon applying, but seems to set down on its own.
Coverage? Pretty much zero. Now, I enjoy and prefer most days, a lighter coverage foundation. I like for my skin and freckles to show through a little. But this foundation doesn’t’ cover, doesn’t even out, doesn’t do much of anything. Much of anything except find every pore on your face and sit in it. So you have no coverage, but then little dots all over. I haven’t been using a primer lately, because I feel my current skincare routine does a mighty fine job at priming prior to makeup. So maybe a pore filling primer would stop that. But there is still no. coverage.
I experienced a VERY oily face throughout the day. And as I tried to blot, it moved around what little coverage was there. So I looked like an oily, streaky mess.
Nude vs. OG
Both are 1 oz of product, both are $42. Double Wear has a larger shade range, 35 vs 14. But it has been around for ages.
They look hella different in the bottle.
The Double Wear Nude seems to run a little lighter than the OG, at least in the shade I picked up.
And this is a generous swatch of the DWN- you would have to layer that shit up on your face to end up with coverage like the swatch. But even with that you can see the difference in coverage vs the original.
Other than the packaging, price, and shade names – there is nothing left to compare. I don’t even think it should carry the same ‘title’ of Double Wear.
If you couldn’t ‘t tell by now, I am not a fan of this foundation. It is too minimal of coverage, it settles into pores, and I get extremely greasy throughout the day wearing it. You could argue it as a tinted moisturizer, being that it is a TINT with SPF 30 and skin care properties. Maybe for drier skin?
I can obviously only speak for myself, but I don’t think this is worth your money! Let me know if you had a better experience!!
