CoverGirl TruBlend Matte Made Foundation | REVIEW

Leslie here, and I am back with another foundation review for you guys! Its been a while here on the blog (be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss out on all the fun we’re having over there! I do a wear test every Wednesday!)

I do have a first impression and wear test of this one – you can find that one here!

CoverGirl TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation. This foundation comes in a hefty 40 shades, and you can pick it up on Amazon or in drugstores, Target, AND SO ON. Best price is about $8.49 at Target.

I picked up the shade L60 Light Nude and its a pretty good match for my skin tone.

L60 on the left, L50 on the right

The shades are broken up into Light (L) Medium (M) Tan (T) & Deep (D) with 10 undertones/shades in each of those sections.

The numbers within the sections don’t necessarily seem to go in order from lightest to darkest (for example I picked up both L50 & L60 – L50 Fair Beige is a good bit darker and more golden than L60.) I think the numbers relate to the undertone. BASICALLY moving one number up or down is not necessarily one shade deeper or lighter. Which is the next one in line? … well, I haven’t figured that out yet…

The TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation claims a 12-hour wear – and length of wear is one of the most important factors I consider when picking out a foundation for the day.

It also says it has a comfortable matte finish that helps minimize pores and control oil throughout the day. Is not supposed to be drying or cakey. And! Is transfer resistant. There are no claims about the level of coverage.

To see my 12-hour wear test – watch below!

This is not a full coverage foundation, so my freckles and some of my redness still show through. It is low-medium at best. The application is very easy, it blends best with a beauty sponge. The finish is a very smooth and comfortable matte. Blurs the pores pretty well!

However, it does not do much in the ways of controlling oil throughout the day without a primer. Using a mattifying primer underneath like this or this provided the best wear for me in subsequent tests. I did find it to be transfer-proof throughout the day.

I did not find that L60 oxidized, it was, however, one of the lighter shades. The swatch on my hand of L50 (which happens to be darker and more golden) did oxidize in front of my eyes.)

Overall, this foundation is FINE. If you are looking for a low to medium coverage product that is a comfortable matte finish and lasts for a good bit of the day – then this might be for you! It’s not the heavy-duty, cake face that is oh-so-popular on Instagram these days (which let’s be honest I am so over that trend can we get back to skin pls). It is inexpensive, easy (breezy, beautiful) and available in a TON of shades. I would say why NOT give it a try!
