bareMinerals barePro Liquid Foundation | REVIEW – Best Foundation EVER?!

Leslie here with another foundation review!

Being skincare obsessed means I’m also pretty into trying ALL the foundations. I want to perfectly compliment my skincare routine and show off the fruits of my labor! This new(ish) foundation from Bare Minerals has a TON of claims – and kind of mixed reviews – so let’s get into it!

The Product

bareMinerals barePRO® Performance Wear Liquid Foundation SPF 20, available in 30 shades. 1 fluid oz, $34. Bare-Minerals-Barepro-Liquid-Foundation

This is the liquid version of the barePRO Performance Wear Powder Foundation – which I have already reviewed here.

I snagged the shade Cool Beige – 10, which does oxidize to be almost too dark (I generally have to go a little darker than my skin anyway- freckled girl probs). But it is a great match undertone wise for my skin!

The Claims

Full coverage, naturally matte finish, 24-hour wear, transfer resistant. Also contains ‘good-for-skin ingredients’: bamboo stem extract for a naturally matte, soft-focus finish; papaya enzymes to improve skin’s texture both immediately and over time. With good-for-skin ingredients that won’t clog pores, BAREPRO® Performance Wear Liquid Foundation is Makeup So Pure You Can Sleep in It®. **ALWAYS WASH YOUR FACE, KIDS**

This makeup is also dermatologist tested, oil-free, non-acnegenic, and non-comedogenic. SPF 20 is a plus!

The Application

Naturally, they recommend applying this with their brush developed specifically for this foundation. I do not have that brush, and prooooobably won’t be getting it. This foundation is trickier to apply though, so maybe picking up the suggested brush is not a bad idea!

Luxe Performance Brush

This brush is supposed to mimic the pressure of fingertips without the streaks. It looks flat, rounded and dense, so I looked through my collection for something similar. The best matches (and that worked the best) seemed to be the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush ($8.99) and some no longer available Sonia Kashuk brush from a holiday set. But the shape seems right! I’d say stick with a brush with shorter, more densely packed bristles.

Fingers also work well – but I hate having sh*t all over my hands. -_-

It does not apply well with a beauty blender, and even my Artis Oval 7 had some difficulty. This can apply streaky if you’re not careful, and because it sets down so quickly (and STAYS), I would recommend working in sections.

This stuff is pretty runny, and a little bit goes a long way. I find I can cover my entire face with just two pumps.

I wouldn’t call this full coverage – but it is enough coverage for me. It seems to be pretty buildable. No settling in pores, and actually seems to smooth out my skin. Because it is more on the matte side, you want to be sure to moisturize adequately prior to application. It can be made more luminous with the addition of an oil or liquid highlighter. But this stuff on its own is MATTE.

The Wear

Y’all.

This stuff lasts SO LONG. It is one of the best wearing foundations I have ever tried. It never got oily, never broke down, never faded, never transferred. I mean – this performs SO WELL.

It is also very lightweight. I don’t feel like it is heavy or cakey in any way.

The Verdict

I honestly have no idea how there are so many bad reviews on this product. Maybe because it is a little trickier to apply, it does oxidize, and it could be drying on someone that does not have the right amount of moisture prior to application – but those are really the only cons I see for this foundation!

This foundation stays matte and flawless all day long. ALL DAY! It is lightweight but with a decent amount of coverage. SPF 20 to keep you protected, and skincare benefits to improve texture over time! It is not outrageously expensive either. I say 100% give this one a try! It is HG status fo’sho.
